Personalized Online Anxiety Care for Adults in Kauai
Living in Kauai is a dream for many, but anxiety can make even the most beautiful surroundings feel heavy. Maybe your mind races in the quiet of night, or worries circle endlessly without relief. You’re not alone—and more importantly, relief is within reach.
I’ve created a telepsychiatry service especially for adults on Kauai who need compassionate, expert mental health care. With over thirty years of clinical experience and a deep connection to Hawaii, I provide supportive, personalized sessions via video, so you can find lasting tools for anxiety without leaving home.
Why I Focus on Anxiety Treatment for Kauai Residents
Islands bring both calm and challenge. For adults dealing with anxiety—whether triggered by personal history, daily pressure, or persistent stress—traveling to appointments can feel overwhelming. Many worry about stigma in small communities or simply struggle to fit care into their busy lives.
That’s where my role as a Kauai-based telepsychiatrist for anxiety becomes vital. I offer comprehensive psychiatric care tailored specifically for anxiety from initial assessment to long-term management—all via a secure and private online platform. That means expert care comes to you, wherever you are on the island.
Understanding Anxiety: What It Feels Like and Why It Matters
- Your heart pounds or tightens at the thought of social events
- Nights are restless—sleep escapes even as your shoulders stay tense
- Avoiding people, obligations, or new experiences feels easier than facing fear
- You struggle to focus, and even small tasks feel daunting
- You feel overwhelmed even when others say you “look fine”
These symptoms may seem normal if they’ve been going on for years. But chronic anxiety affects how you feel, how you connect, and how you move through daily life. That’s why seeking professional help is both brave and healing.
My Approach: Calm, Compassionate, and Customized
What I Offer During Sessions:
- A listening space free from judgment, where you can share your story
- Discussion to understand your specific triggers, thoughts, and fears
- Tools and exercises to manage panic, reduce worry, and rebuild confidence
- Guidance on medication when it may help—always explained with care
Session Overview:
- Initial consultations last around 45–60 minutes
- Follow-up visits typically last 15–30 minutes
- You control the pace, and if today feels hard, that's okay—we work at your comfort
How to Begin Telepsychiatry in Kauai
Getting started with anxiety treatment doesn’t need to feel overwhelming. In fact, it’s designed to be simple, secure, and centered around your comfort. Here’s how to begin:
- Visit the Contact Us page or call directly to request a session—no referral needed.
- You’ll receive a secure video link by email or text, whichever you prefer.
- Join the session from your phone, tablet, or computer—no apps or downloads required. A private, quiet space anywhere on Kauai is all you need.
- During our first session, we’ll talk through your symptoms, life context, and goals. You’ll be heard without judgment, and together we’ll begin to shape a care plan that feels manageable and supportive.
After that, follow-up sessions are flexible. You can adjust timing based on your needs, and every visit is a space where you’re welcome to ask questions, reflect, or slow down. My goal is to make sure your care fits into your life, not the other way around.
My Journey in Psychiatry and Why It Helps You Heal
I earned my medical degree from the Howard University College of Medicine in 1985, followed by psychiatric residency training at the Los Angeles County–USC Medical Center, one of the busiest and most diverse clinical environments in the country. I hold a lifetime board certification in psychiatry, which reflects both a deep commitment to the field and the trust placed in me by peers and patients alike. Over more than thirty years in practice, I’ve provided psychiatric care across a broad range of settings—from hospitals and correctional facilities to underserved communities and private clinics. This diversity of experience has shaped my understanding of how anxiety shows up differently across cultures, professions, and life stages.
I’ve called Hawaii home for over three decades and remain deeply committed to serving individuals and families on the islands with respectful, personalized care. My long-term presence in the community reflects the value I place on continuity, trust, and culturally sensitive treatment. In addition to clinical work, I am the author of Bad Jelly Book, a self-help book focused on building emotional resilience after trauma. Many of the strategies shared in that book influence my approach in therapy, helping patients rediscover inner strength and clarity in times of emotional difficulty.
Insurance, Payment, and Transparency
I currently accept HMSA, UHA, and HMAA insurance plans. If you’re a private pay patient, I welcome you as well. At this time, I do not accept Medicare or Medicaid, but I’m always open to discussing alternative solutions or direct payment options that suit your needs. My goal is to make psychiatric care as accessible and straightforward as possible. I believe in transparency, so there are no hidden fees—just honest, clear communication and a dedicated focus on your healing and support.
