Meet Dr. Scott Gladstone - Telepsychiatry for Adults in Hawaii

Have you been quietly carrying the weight of anxiety, depression, or emotional pain, hoping it gets better on its own? What if the right psychiatric support could be just one video call away, without leaving your home? Many people in Hawaii face these struggles silently, unsure where to turn. But what if professional psychiatric care could meet you right where you are—no traffic, no waiting rooms, no judgment?

At Hawaii TelePsychiatry, I offer secure, one-on-one online psychiatric treatment for adults across the Hawaiian Islands, designed to be personal, private, and completely focused on you. With over 30 years of experience and a lifelong dedication to mental health, I’m here to help you untangle what’s holding you back—so you can move forward with strength, stability, and clarity.

Why I Chose Telepsychiatry And Why It Works?

Traditional psychiatry can sometimes feel out of reach, especially in rural or island communities. Long drives, long waits, and logistical challenges often keep people from getting the help they need. That’s why I turned to telepsychiatry.

It’s not just about convenience, it’s about removing barriers. My patients can talk to me from anywhere in Hawaii using their phone, tablet, or laptop. The experience is safe, secure, and incredibly effective for both medication management and deep emotional support. It’s personal, direct, and completely confidential—without the stress of going to an office.

As an online telepsychiatrist in Hawaii, I’ve found that patients often open up more easily in the comfort of their own space. That honesty leads to faster breakthroughs and more meaningful care.

What I Treat and How I Can Help?

I specialize in treating adults between the ages of 18 and 64. Every person I meet brings a unique story, but many of the challenges are deeply familiar—and completely treatable. My goal is always to help you understand what you're going through and feel supported as we work through it together.

I treat the following conditions:

  • Depression – Persistent sadness, emotional numbness, and a loss of interest in life
  • Anxiety – Racing thoughts, chronic worry, panic attacks, and sleep disruption
  • ADD/ADHD – Difficulty focusing, forgetfulness, disorganization, and emotional regulation
  • Bipolar Disorder – Cycles of highs and lows that disrupt your daily life and relationships
  • Trauma – Pain stemming from childhood abuse, adult abuse, or other traumatic life events

Please note: I do not prescribe opioids.

What makes me different from others is my ability to listen not just to symptoms, but to your experience as a whole person. My approach blends psychiatric medication (when needed) with insight-oriented discussions that help you gain awareness, confidence, and control.

About Me: A Life Committed to Psychiatry and Healing

My journey in psychiatry started at Howard University College of Medicine, where I graduated in 1985, following in the footsteps of my great-uncle, Dr. Nathan Sobel. I completed my psychiatric residency at the Los Angeles County–USC Medical Center, one of the busiest mental health centers in the country.

Since then, I’ve worked in private clinics, hospitals, correctional institutions, and public health settings—treating a broad and diverse population. Over the decades, I’ve helped thousands of patients overcome emotional and psychological barriers so they could lead more peaceful, productive lives.

I’ve lived in Hawaii for over 30 years, and this community means everything to me. I understand the cultural values, the isolation some residents face, and the deep importance of trust in mental healthcare. That’s why I bring not just clinical skill but also personal respect and cultural sensitivity to every session.

Whether you’re navigating grief, managing a diagnosis, or just trying to regain your emotional footing, I’m here to support you, not judge you.

The “Bad Jelly” Approach: My Philosophy

Alongside my practice, I’m also the author of “Bad Jelly,” a self-help book designed to guide readers through trauma recovery, ADHD management, and emotional growth. In it, I talk about the “bad jelly”—the mental toxins we absorb from negative experiences—and how to replace them with emotional strength and clarity.

“Bad Jelly” is meant to be practical, hopeful, and easy to use, even for people who aren’t ready for therapy. I wrote it because I believe healing starts with self-awareness, and that anyone can rebuild their mind with the right tools.

A portion of all book sales supports scholarships at Howard University College of Medicine, in honor of those who mentored me.
